This program will provide a correct, fundamental system for starting sport horse prospects. The program is intended for trainers, owners and breeders, with the goal of developing a consistent training foundation for all sport horse prospects. This program will bridge the current educational gap related to the training of sport horse prospects as they progress from in-hand to under-saddle and eventual competition.
This program will feature live forums strategically placed across the country in our sport horse communities.
This course is an introduction for youth and young adults to the Sport Horse Breeding Farm, its purpose, operation, and overall goals. The participants will have two full days at one of the largest dressage sport horse breeding farms in the country. Included in their time at the farm will be sessions specific to both Mare and Stallion Management, the handling of foals and young horses and their training – from first haltering to under saddle as an FEI horse; and ideal conformation and movement of the dressage sport horse will be introduced. Participants will also have the opportunity to gain experience evaluating the gaits of young horses under saddle.
These two-day programs educate breeders, riders, trainers, and potential owners about the qualities to look for in a sport horse and how to rate them. Additionally, they serve as a prerequisite for becoming a USEF-licensed dressage/sport horse breeding judge.
These clinics are designed to train individuals with an interest in sport horse handling the proper techniques to promote safety and skill building with handling horses in a competition or inspection environment.
